Diabetic Care

Our skilled providers are capable of performing a wide range of procedures. This enables us to provide you with the convenience of being treated in a comfortable environment by caring staff that you trust.

If you are feeling unwell, need preventative or ongoing treatment, are seeking general medical help and more, our staff at Rio Grande Family Medicine can help.

  • Initial diabetes evaluations are performed to classify the type of diabetes, review previous treatment, identify potential risk factors and inform you of your options.

  • Our providers’ expertise in diabetic care allows for a specialized management plan that integrates nutrition, lifestyle counseling and other treatment options.

  • Used to diagnose diabetes, the A1C test measures an individual’s average blood glucose levels over a 2-3 month period.

Family Care

  • Childhood is a period of rapid growth and change. Well-child checks include examining the child’s growth and development in order to find or prevent problems. In order to get the most out of your visit, be sure to write down all of your questions.

  • Our providers are trained in pediatric medicine to provide care to your little one and can treat many conditions including coughs, minor injuries, ear infections and sudden illnesses.

  • Our providers offer comforting and comprehensive services in order to help you decide which form of birth control best suits your needs.

  • Regular exams can help identify problems before they become serious and treat complications early. Special exams and screenings are necessary to a woman’s health. Our providers offer pelvic exams, Pap tests and clinical breast exams to keep you in excellent health.

General Services

  • Physical examinations are routine tests performed to evaluate your overall health.

    In addition to annual physicals, we offer physicals needed prior to employment, school enrollment and those required by the Department of Transportation.

  • Vaccines help protect both individuals and communities from many serious diseases by preventing outbreaks. Please give us a call to check if the vaccination you need is available.

  • A medication review is an examination of a patient’s complete set of medications with the objective of optimizing impact while minimizing medication-related problems.

  • Sutures removal should generally be performed after 8 to 12 days of placement and is usually quick with little to no pain.

  • An EKG is a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of the heart in order to determine the cause of chest pain, pressure or other discomfort.

  • An ear examination is performed to check for ear problems which can result in loss of hearing, pain or discharge. Our providers can check for objects in the ear and provide relief through ear irrigation.

  • Removal of benign warts and moles is common for both cosmetic or medicinal reasons. Our providers offer many different techniques for removal.

  • We perform vision screenings using the Snellen Eye Chart to determine if prescription lenses are needed to improve vision.

  • Many skin conditions can be diagnosed through a biopsy, a procedure in which a small skin sample is removed for lab examination.

  • A Rapid Strep Test consists of testing a swab of the throat and tonsils in order to quickly diagnose and treat strep throat.

  • Trigger point injections are an option for pain treatment in which a small needle containing an anesthetic is inserted into an area of muscle in order to alleviate pain.

  • A nebulizer is a drug delivery device that administers medication in the form of a mist inhaled through the lungs and is most commonly used to treat respiratory conditions.

  • Partial or complete removal of the toenail is performed to treat recurring or severe fungal infections, damage to the nail and ingrown nails.

  • Hemorrhoid evaluations are performed in order to confirm the presence of hemorrhoids, rule out other conditions and prescribe treatment for quick relief.

  • Our providers are trained to evaluate the cause, severity and nature of acute or chronic pain and determine the most efficient non-narcotic treatment.

  • We now offer appointments for cannabis referral. It is an out of pocket fee of $150.00.

We accept other insurance plans which may not be on this list. Please call your plan and ask if our providers are credentialed with them.

There are many types of healthcare insurance plans and we may not accept every variation. It is best to call your plan ahead of your first visit to ensure that you will be covered if you establish at our clinic.
